Canada ‘Will Not be Intimidated’ by Terrorist Shootings (Video)

The above video from Canada’s The Globe and Mail provides a look at some of the key moments from the terrorist shootings in the Canadian capital, Ottawa on Wednesday.

The suspected gunman, a 32-year-old Muslim convert named Michael Zehaf-Bibeau, shot and killed a soldier at an Ottawa war memorial before entering Canada’s parliament reported the BBC.

After running amok through parliament the gunman was shot dead just outside the MPs’ caucus rooms by House of Commons Sergeant-at-Arms Kevin Vickers.

This occurred a day after another Muslim convert killed a soldier in the city of Quebec.

Canada’s prime minister, Stephen Harper said earlier that the Quebec incident was a plot inspired by the Islamic State extremist militant group.

“We will not be intimidated. Canada will never be intimidated,” Harper said in a televised address late on Wednesday.

“In fact, this will lead us to strengthen our resolve and redouble our efforts… to take all necessary steps to identify and counter threats and keep Canada safe.”

The suspect’s mother, Susan Bibeau, told AP that she was very sorry for what had happened and that she was crying for the victims of the shootings, not for her son.
