Pee-wee Herman will return to movie theaters. Why now? I don’t know. But I’m interested to see how he will be reimagined.
He’s a cool guy and all. Except for that one time. But otherwise, his movies were huge adventures full of the stuff childhood is made of.
Now, at the age of 62, Paul Reubens is looking to put on the tight gray suit and red bow tie that made him famous.
It’s been almost 30 years since the first Pee-wee Herman film, 1985’s Pee-wee’s Big Adventure. That film was followed by Big Top Pee-wee in 1988. Will a film in 2015 re-catapult the Pee-wee brand?
It really was such a unique brand. Since the movies and the TV show, there really hasn’t been anything similar to come along. I think he’ll have some success with this new project, if just due to its inherent uniqueness.
