‘Fancy Vivid Pink Diamond’ Sells for a Record $17.8 Million (Video)

A new world record was set in Hong Kong on Oct. 7 when Sotheby’s auctioned an 8.41-carat “fancy vivid pink diamond” ring for $17.768 million. That’s $2.1 million per carat!

The auction house described the gem as “amongst the rarest and most desirable of colored diamonds ever seen at auction.”
