Often referred to as an Asian flower town and a world tropical flower kingdom, Taiwan is famous for its spectacular cherry blossoms in spring. This year, due to the dry weather and warm temperature, cherry blossoms across Taiwan are even more beautiful than ever, in particular those in high mountain farms.

Chung Baling (中巴陵)
Chung Baling (Central Baling) is located in the central section of Baling, a tribal settlement at Taoyuan City’s Fuxing District in northern Taiwan. It is part of the Daguan (Lala) Mountain Natural Landscape Reservation, a beautiful mountain bordering Taoyuan and Yilan counties. It is a popular tourist attraction known for giant trees and fruit production on the North Cross-Island Highway.
Every year from February to March, many trees around the highway are covered with beautiful flowers. Among them are the cherry blossoms at the Cherry Blossom Trail (櫻木花道) in Chung Baling.
It is on a hill owned by a retired teacher who purchased it in 1980 and planted hundreds of various cherry trees on the two sides of a walking trail stretching about 300 meters (984 feet).
Smarcus (司馬庫斯)
Smangus, also known as Smarcus, is an indigenous Atayal settlement nestled deep in the mountains of northern Taiwan’s Hsinchu County. Located at an elevation of 1,500 meters (4,921 feet), it used to be among the most inaccessible areas in Taiwan.
As Smangus was once the most remote community and was home to the last tribe that was brought on the national power grid in Taiwan, it holds the title of the “Tribe of God.” The tribe still retains its traditional lifestyle and maintains an excellent natural ecology.
In spring, Smangus is one of the most popular destinations for viewing cherry blossoms in northern Taiwan, and the tribal area is turned into a pink wonderland.
Wulin Farm (武陵農場)
Wulin Farm, also known as the Wuling National Forest Recreation Area, is located at Hoping District in central Taiwan’s Taichung City, and is one of the most popular farms in Taiwan.
The farm is an amazing attraction with different scenery in all four seasons, especially the cherry blossom landscapes in spring. In addition to over 20,000 cherry trees, Wulin Farm also offers spectacular views of the surrounding mountains with nice walking trails to scenic spots, including the 50-meter (164-foot) Taoshan Waterfalls.
With over 700 hectares (1,729 acres) of land at an altitude of 1,740-2,100 meters (5,709-6,889 feet), Wulin Farm was established in 1963 for the employment of retired servicemen. Currently, it is one of the eight farms managed by Taiwan’s Veterans Affairs Council.
