Located in Wanli District in northern Taiwan’s New Taipei City, Yehliu Geopark is known for its stunning array of rock formations. To further promote tourism along the north coast, the Yehliu Geopark Light Show was first held in 2018.
2020 Yehliu Geopark Light Show
Sponsored by Taiwan Tourism Bureau’s North Coast and Guanyinshan National Scenic Area Administration, the 2020 Yehliu Geopark Light Show was set to take place in April but was postponed to September 27 through October 4, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Admission
With the theme of “Yehliu’s Night Tours — See the Queen’s Head Illuminated at Night,” The Night Tour activity is open to the general public who carried any two Taiwan’s Government Uniform Invoices (統一發票). All the invoices collected will be donated to charity.
Magnificent light show
The entire Geopark was illuminated with colorful lights over this duration. The five-minute light show was conducted every 30 minutes from 6 pm to 9 pm at the Gerpark’s two zones simultaneously.
The eastern zone features the iconic formation of the “Queen’s Head” (女王頭), and a variety of other awe-inspiring rock formations, such as the “Fairy Shoe,” “Elephant Rock,” the “Leopard Rock,” the “Sea Grooves,” and many other well-named rocks.
The western zone is characterized by the “Cute Princess Rock” (俏皮公主), the “Beehive,” the “Ginger Rocks,” the “Sea Candles,” the “Mushroom Rocks,” and many Miocene shallow sea organism fossils and trace fossils, etc.
Queen’s Head Concert
In addition to taking in the awesome rock formations illuminated by colorful lights, a musical performance dubbed the “Queen’s Head Concert” was also held on the night of October 3. Some famous local singers, violinists, and the Youth String Orchestra of the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra were invited to perform at the concert.
Dazzling light on stunning rocks, powerful laser beams shining through the sky, as well as vibrant music and a pleasant breeze make for a mesmerizing ambiance that turned the coast into a wonderland. It is definitely worthwhile to pay a visit to Yehliu Geopark to explore the fantastic Queen’s Head and other curious rock formations illuminated by dazzling lights at night next year.
