Careless mistakes by a driver or a pedestrian can end up being much more serious than you could ever imagine!
A red sedan lost control near a drop-off point at Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport on March 1, and rammed into the guardrail, running over several pedestrians. Five people died at the scene, and 27 others were injured, four of whom died later in hospital.
Some of the victims recalled the terrible incident, saying they saw people flying through the air, and many injured people in cars and on the ground.
A relative of one of the victims, Liu Quan, said that five out of six family members were taken to hospital. His brother’s legs were fractured, his mother was in the operating room for over three hours, and most tragically, his 8-year-old son was knocked under the bridge so his condition was unknown nor which hospital he was sent to.
The driver, a 24-year-old woman surnamed Yang, was also hospitalized, according to Shenzhen police. Her boyfriend who was in the passenger seat said she lost control of the vehicle after another car kept honking, and made her extremely nervous, qq.com reported.
But why were so many people standing on the road which isn’t designed for pedestrians?
Turns out that many people like to watch planes taking off and landing, and get photos from there because it’s a high point near the parking area. So the road became a “viewing platform,” and around 30 people were standing there when the car rammed into them.
I feel so sorry for all these poor people. Hopefully this will never happen again. For your own safety and for other people’s sakes, please don’t make such “tiny” mistakes because they could lead to big consequences.
