The first Pitch Perfect was the hit that wasn’t supposed to be. It ended up surprising critics by being full of heart and crazy funny.
The story looked into the life of college a cappella groups and their intense rivalries. The movie was based off the book Pitch Perfect: The Quest for Collegiate A Cappella Glory. A cappella is used as a term for group or solo singing without instruments or musical backing tracks to support.
There’s nothing more fun than movies that sing.
In Pitch Perfect 2 the girls will go for it on an international scale, this time going up against Europe’s finest for singing glory. It’s hard to believe that this European group provides any competition, but will likely serve as a backdrop for countless cultural jokes.
Of course, a movie musical like this is appealing to American Idol and Glee fans, as well as the younger crowd in general, along with those who are fans of Rebel Wilson and her classic fat jokes. Look for it this May.
