Race the Tube: Can This Runner Beat the Beijing Metro? (Video)

A Chinese gym teacher sprinted over 2,600 feet in 2 minutes and 24 seconds to race a train between subway stations.

Pan Hailong, 27, successfully reboarded the Line 1 train at Fuxmingmen Station after getting off at Nanlishilu Station.

Turns out Pan is a professional sprinter. He jumped over two ticket barriers, and climbed 203 steps to achieve the feat.

The distance between the two stations is one of the shortest in the city, and he did the run at night when there would be fewer pedestrians in the area.

Pan was inspired by James Heptonstall who kicked off the “Race the Tube” idea in London in July. Runners in other cities around the world soon followed suit, including Hong Kong and Taipei.
