Rescued Wild Panda Dies From Injuries After Being Attacked by Martens

This video shows an injured panda being operated on after it was found near the Tangjiahe National Nature Reserve in Sichuan Province on Nov. 17.

Nicknamed Pingping, the 3-year-old bear was thought to have been savaged by a group of yellow-throated martens, and his intestines were exposed.

Pingping had extensive surgery and even received a blood transfusion. However, the wounds were infected, and it turned out that he had liver damage, and was also malnourished.

Unfortunately he failed to recover, and died on Nov. 27.
