Comparing Chief Executive C.Y. Leung with ex-governor Chris Patten is like apples and oranges; one’s Chinese, the other’s English; one’s affiliated with the Communist Party, the other used to work for the British Government.
Considering this post has been deleted on Sina Weibo by Chinese censors, I think we know the answer already.
Leung sent his kids to schools in England, whereas Patten’s daughters went to local Hong Kong schools.
The former governor is affectionately remembered by some as “Fat Patten,” and also for being righteous, sympathetic, and truthful.
Here are three pieces of advice for Hong Kong’s next leader from the blogger who posted this:
- Understand that it’s a profound honor to serve the people of Hong Kong.
- Understand that the reasons for the city’s success are vital for it to continue that way.
- Realizing the meaning of “one country, two systems” is important too.
