A volcano in central Japan erupted around midday on Sept. 27, while over 250 hikers were walking near its peak.

A woman has been confirmed dead, and over 30 people are seriously injured. Some of the hikers were able to descend, but currently about 40 are stranded, according to Reuters.
Domestic flights to Haneda Airport in Tokyo are being delayed by up to an hour due to forced route changes, but international flights are reportedly unaffected.
